On 7th December, IIUM.FM launched a Junior Radio News Workshop dedicated to introducing children to news presenting and teaching them how to present and read news like a television news caster. The participants, ranging from 9 to 17 years old, arrived at our studio at around 9 a.m.

The workshop began with the first session, which focused on warming up vocal cords in order to deliver news clearly. This session was conducted by our two news presenters, Asma Ismail and Muhammad Luqman.

After that, the presenters taught the participants about the different types of news, such as sports news and political news. They also explained that different types of news need to be read differently. For example, when reading news concerning tragedies, the tone needs to be calmer, more serious, and respectful. On the other hand, uplifting or positive news should be delivered with an energetic tone.

The workshop then continued with a voice projection practice session. During this session, the participants were required to stand outside and project a loud clear phrase using their stomach voices, as taught by the presenters. This was followed by a Q&A session, where participants asked questions about dealing with nervousness while presenting and how to start their own radio platforms.
