From the 6th until the 10th of December, IIUM held the most awaited event of the year; the 41st IIUM Convocation Ceremony, a 5-day special event to celebrate students from undergraduates up to postgraduates who have studied hard in this university in order to rightfully earn their titles of degrees, masters, or even PhDs. In conjunction with this, IIUM.FM held the program Grad with IIUM.FM to celebrate the event. We had our own stall near the masjid compound where we sold a variety of items such as nachos and enamel pins. We also conducted interviews with graduates from various Kulliyyahs and asked them about their life in university or how they handled stress while studying.
Other than this, we also held other events such as the Junior Radio News Workshop; a workshop where we teach children about news, how to present and read news clearly, and also give them a chance to present their own news. The IIUM.FM Challenge was also another special activity where members of IIUM.FM competed against each other in challenges such as making coffee or making a bouquet.
Even before the convocation ceremony started, everyone in IIUM.FM worked hard to make it successful; they carefully planned the food stocks and packaging, discussed what kind of content to make, and how to promote the booth. Throughout the entire five days, the members, under the scorching hot sun, promoted the booth with all they could, conducted interviews with Best Students and PhD students, did crossovers at the ICC, and also held a talk show on stage.
Despite the tiredness and the heat, everyone was happy and glad that they joined. They were able to become closer with their seniors and other members whom they never had a chance to talk to before, learn new things, and most importantly, make new memories in university.
