Two weeks have passed since the new first years of IIUM. Most students have already settled in for a new chapter of their lives here in university. IIUM FM held its first official induction day to celebrate and welcome the newly selected crews that will be joining this family.

The day started early at 9:00 AM with a short exercise session to warm everyone up for the long day ahead. After that, everyone was given a brief explanation of each bureau. This was then followed by a short presentation by each crew member, starting with the announcer DJ, followed by the admin crew, podcast crew, digital media team, and lastly the digital professional team.

Next, it was time for lunch. Nasi ayam kunyit was prepared, and the brothers performed their Friday prayer at the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Mosque, which is less than 10 minutes away from IIUM FM.

The session continued at 2:30 PM with a mini game for about half an hour. This was then followed by a brief explanation of the news bureau by the seniors, followed by Madam Zarita, the advisor of IIUM FM. Everyone was then split into their respective bureaus and was given a detailed explanation of their work. The session started at 5:30 PM and ended at 8:00 PM.

Lastly, each division had their own presentation, which concluded at 10:00 PM. The day ended with a photoshoot to capture the official start of IIUM FM 25/26 for everyone.

Induction Day wasn’t just about welcoming the new members; it was also about helping them understand the responsibilities and challenges when deciding to commit to something significant. This is also a chance to develop skills, network, and make new friends along the way. The most important lesson was that IIUM FM isn’t just a society — it’s a family
